Halloween is always a fun time to stretch the imagination and slip into a more youthful outlook.  This year our halloween party included our residents, families and caregivers.  Everyone dressed up and participated in the food and games.

Take a look at some of our food offerings. Centipede grapes, Cupcakes and worms, deviled eggs with olive spiders, and mummy pizza's.  Of course we drank blood juice...  The theme was creepy foods. It was all for a laugh and to highlight creativity.

Our residents picked their costumes and were having fun being in the spirit of the occasion.  we had a king, a fairy princess, a she devil a bunny and Mr Cool.

The games we chose were within the theme as well.  We played halloween charade, acting out the clues.  The donut eating contest was fun to watch as the donuts were suspended from the ceiling and no one could use their hands! Roxanne found her rhythm right from the beginning and ate her way to winning!  Mark was a powdered sugar mess but a super good sport!!!

We moved into the family room to play a few more games including pumpkin bocci ball and candy toss.  Gladys seemed to win bocci ball every round!  She had a stack of candy as her winnings that was to be envied!  Much laughter and good sportsmanship highlighted the afternoon.  Its fun to play together!

Nicky Arrives

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our newest resident, Nicky.  She is an animal whisperer and has already made fast friends with our resident cat, Chloe and Sophie our little chihuahua.  When she see's Sophie, she reaches out her arms to hold her  murmuring, "Oh little baby come here to me."  Sophie loves Nicky already!

Nicky was born and raised in France.  You will enjoy hearing her delightful french accent when you have an opportunity to introduce yourself to her.   She loves to share her pictures of the French Chateau she grew up in.  Unfortunately when she was in her late teens, the occupation of France caused her family to move out and never return.

When Nicky married a handsome american soldier, she moved to the states where she raised her family of two girls and her German Shepherd dog.  Nicky became a dog trainer and spent much time showing her dog and winning all kinds of accolades.  She has ribbons and trophies that show her expertise.

Nicky has an adventurous spirit and in her 60's gained her pilot's licence.  In her 80's she went sky diving, just for fun!

Lakeside Gardens wishes to extend our welcome to Nicky and we look forward to sharing adventures together.
